Why Have I Created This Course?
I’ve been learning about the effects of high altitude since my Dad first introduced me to Alpine mountaineering 15 years ago. Back then I wanted to learn more about it but I couldn't find a trusted, evidence based resource that was accessible to non-medical people (as I was then). Having gained experience as a mountaineer and as an expedition doctor, I decided to create the resource I felt was missing - this course.
Deaths and serious illness from high altitude illness are preventable and I want to share knowledge about this with anyone who is keen to learn. My aim is to make this information more accessible to a wider audience (not just for other medics!) so that more people can safely and confidently enjoy adventures in high altitude environments.
